A highlight of the design is the 20,000 square foot public plaza, a space crafted to encourage community interaction and foster all-day vibrancy. The plaza's architecture seamlessly integrates foot traffic from 10th Avenue, weaving small-scale retail spaces and a direct connection to a new Safeway grocery store at East Broadway.
In the Grandview Woodland neighbourhood of Vancouver, I had the privilege to participate in a transformative mixed-use, transit-oriented development project, a significant undertaking in urban design. This endeavor aligned with Vancouver's key priorities, integrating rental housing, childcare, and community engagement into a cohesive architectural concept.
Working alongside esteemed local architects Perkins and Will and Toronto-based landscape architects Public Work, we anticipated the rezoning completion for 2023 and planned the construction commencement for 2024. This project's blend of modern architectural design, thoughtful urban planning, and community integration stands as a proud example of my commitment to innovative and responsive architecture."
As a key architectural design team member, my primary focus was on the residential towers during the rezoning phase. Collaboratively working on the spatial layout, structural integrity, and aesthetic considerations, I ensured the towers' design cohered with both the community's needs and the city's broader architectural vision. Furthermore, I was instrumental in establishing various environmental studies to optimize energy efficiency and sustainability within the project. Leveraging computational design methodologies, I conducted detailed analyses to inform design decisions. This multidisciplinary approach underscored my commitment to creating architecture that is at once innovative, context-sensitive, and forward-thinking.
